#107 - Die With Zero
Read time - 3 minutes
Hi all - this is a quick one as I’m taking the last 10-ish days of the month off to hang with my kids and take them to the Boundary Waters (wish me luck I’m the only adult!!).
Today I wanted to share another influential book in my life:
Die With Zero, by Bill Perkins
This is another of a few rare books - one that changed how I think about a very important topic.
The topic is wealth planning.
And the general philosophy is this - instead of amassing as much money as possible until the day you die, it’s better to spend everything on experiences and helping the next generation when they need it, and die with as little as possible.
The major takeaways for me that actually changed how I think:
Our minimal effective retirement number is less than we think
Money over and above that should be spent on experiences
Give money to our children earlier when they need it, don’t wait until we die
Check it out. It’s not a particularly long read and listen.
