My 2025 - Mastery
Last week I laid out the sales/business development high and low-lights of my coaching practice in 2025. Find it here.
The three major parts of my business:
-Sales/Business development
-Delivery of services - which we call “Mastery” in my community
-Practice management or administrative support
Today I’ll lay out, as briefly as possible, the Mastery side of my business over the last year.
Mastery is a term used in the EOS community - and it relates to your overall skill in the work we do - which is to teach, facilitate, and coach.
Just like in my business development activities, I keep detailed track of what I do on a weekly basis regarding my development - so here’s a few numbers:

Development Calls: One of many reasons I decided to become an EOS® Implementer instead of creating my own coaching program, is the community that comes with it. There are weekly calls that I can participate in with my colleagues to learn and sharpen the saw every week.
In 2025 I participated in calls almost every week, and got better because of it.
In 2026 I’m planning on averaging 1 per week attendance.
Peer Group Meetings: Peer groups are a primary source of development for me. I’m a member of 2 ongoing peer groups, and also joined a paid peer group that lasted 6 months in 2025. Those groups are:
Business Leader Peer Group - I’m a member of Coalition 9, a local peer group for business leaders. My group is 9 people who meet 1x a month and connect with eachother between sessions. It’s been a tremendous development avenue for me.
EOS T-Group - Most implementers create their own peer groups which are referred to as “Traction” groups. I have one from the group I started as an implementer with - it meets every week and we share challenges, issues, and learn from eachother every week. I attended about every other week in 2025.
In 2026 I plan on continuing with both of these groups.
Seminars: I participated in multiple 1/2 and full-day seminars in 2025, mostly EOS related.
In 2026 I’ll likely participate in a few less, likely 6-7.
1:1 Coaching: I didn’t participate in any 1:1 formal coaching in 2025. I did, however, have many 1:1 calls with mentors in my community that was essential to my development.
I didn’t track those calls and think it’s overkill to do so, but I’d say I have about 1 per week where I’m asking questions and learning from a mentor who’s ahead of me.
In 2026 I’m investing in a 1:1 coach, that’ll be the bulk of my monetary investment in coaching this year.
Sessions led: I led 56 all-day sessions in 2025, which requires preparation, review, and learning from each session. Repetition is the greatest teacher, and I learn something from every session I lead.
In 2026 my goal is 100 sessions.
This level of investment of money, and more importantly, time, in my development has shown me great return already. A part of me wishes I started investing like this 15 years ago when I started my entrepreneurial journey.
But I know that wasn’t my path, and most of my development was done by doing and learning the hard way.
I needed that, and I need some of that now. But being able to do both is the answer for me.
Next week I’ll write about my practice management from 2025.
Talk to you next week,
Mike
